TV2 Nyhetskanalen is Norways 24 Hour News Channel

TV2 Nyhetskanalen is a 24-hour Norwegian language television news channel which started broadcasting on 15 January 2007. It is Norway’s first national news network in Norwegian that actually broadcasts 24 hours. There was a private channel between 1997 and 1998, but it only broadcasted from 17.00 to 00.00 Mondays to Fridays. In weekends they didn’t broadcast anything.

Many in media predicted TV2 Nyhetskanalen to close down

Its main office is located in Bergen which is Norways second biggest city. Its breakthrough came at 14.00 (2 pm) on 13th of January 2007, two days before its planned launch date, when the channel had a breaking news report about the environmental disaster outside Fedje, breaking into broadcast on its mother channel TV 2.

Many predicted that this 24 hour news channel would vanish fast. But since 2007 this channel have getting more and more popularity. Especially on bigger events. It competes with the national tv channel NRK during daytime and evenings. But during night and mornings it is viewed by many as its the only news channel that broadcasts 24 hours here.

I have focused on idents that are awesome for this article. Later we will give you many more clips from this unique and quite popular news channel for Norwegians.
